The Mediation Skills Handbook: Tools for Conflict Resolution is a practical resource designed to strengthen understanding and application of mediation as a tool for dialogue, conflict prevention, and the peaceful management of social tensions.
The handbook was developed through a collaborative process led by Dr. Rawaa Salhi and the Attalaki Student Steering Committee on Mediation, bringing together academic expertise and the perspectives of young people engaged in mediation and dialogue.
The handbook explores key mediation skills, including conflict analysis, stakeholder identification, active listening, communication, facilitation, and the management of difficult or sensitive discussions. It also highlights the importance of respecting cultural, religious, and identity-related differences when creating spaces for constructive dialogue.
Through practical tools, exercises, and learning scenarios, the handbook aims to support students, community actors, educators, and civil society practitioners in developing the skills needed to facilitate respectful communication and contribute to peaceful coexistence.
More broadly, the publication seeks to contribute to a culture of dialogue, mutual respect, and social cohesion, while encouraging approaches that recognize diversity and promote the meaningful participation of different groups within society.
