As part of Attalaki’s legal capacity-building programme, Maître Mohamed Anouar Ajmi led sessions addressing the constitutional and legal framework governing fundamental rights and freedoms in Tunisia.

His contribution covered freedom of religion or belief, the constitutional protection of fundamental freedoms, relevant international standards and their articulation with domestic law. He also addressed the main civil, administrative and criminal avenues of legal recourse available for the protection of fundamental rights.

A significant part of his contribution focused on the practical application of these legal principles. Through case-based exercises and the preparation and conduct of the Mock Trial, participants were encouraged to develop legal arguments, examine different interpretations of legal provisions and apply relevant standards to concrete situations. Maître Ajmi also contributed to the debriefing and analysis of the legal reasoning developed during the simulation.

In this interview, Maître Ajmi reflects on the main legal themes addressed during the training, the practical application of fundamental rights standards and the role of simulation exercises in developing legal analysis and argumentation.
